Your cheeks are adorned with shining makara-shaped earrings, Your neck illumined by the Kaustubha gem, and Your form resplendent with forest garlands, necklaces, and the sacred Śrīvatsa mark.

विमलाम्बुजद्युतिपदां तव आर्तिच्छिदं मूर्तिं अहम् आलम्बे।
Fluent Meaning
I take refuge in that form of Yours whose four glorious arms are adorned with armlets, shoulder ornaments, bracelets, and excellent jewel-studded rings, and which hold the mace, conch, discus, and lotus.
You wear a shining yellow garment, adorned with a golden girdle, and Your feet glow with the radiance of spotless lotuses. I seek refuge in that form of Yours, the destroyer of all afflictions.

Narayaneeyam – Verse 2.3
यत्त्रैलोक्यमहीयसोऽपि महितं सम्मोहनं मोहनात्
कान्तं कान्तिनिधानतोऽपि मधुरं माधुर्यधुर्यादपि ।

O all-pervading Viṣṇu, Your form is revered even by the greatest in the three worlds;
it enchants more powerfully than anything enchanting, it is more beautiful than the very source of beauty, sweeter than the foremost sweetness, more beautiful than the highest beauty, and more wondrous than wonder itself. In this world, whose heart does not feel delight and amazement on beholding such a form of Yours?

tattādṛṅmadhurātmakaṃ tava vapuḥ samprāpya sampanmayī
sā devī paramotsukā cirataraṃ nā’ste svabhakteṣv api |

त्वद्रूपमानोज्ञक प्रेमस्थैर्यमयात् अचापलबलात् चापल्यवार्ता उदभूत्।
Fluent Meaning
O Infallible, all-pervading Lord, having attained that form of Yours which is of such supreme sweetness, the Goddess Lakṣmī who embodies all prosperity becomes exceedingly eager and is unable to remain for long even with her own devotees.
Hence, alas, arises her predicament: because of the delightful beauty of Your form,
her love firm, unwavering, and powerful gives rise to the very appearance of restlessness.

The sweetness of the Lord’s form is so overpowering

लक्ष्मीस्तावकरामणीयकहृतैवेयं परेष्वस्थिरे-

lakṣmīs tāvakaramāṇīyakahṛtaiva iyaṃ pareṣv asthire-
ty asminn anyad api pramāṇam adhunā vakṣyāmi lakṣmīpate |

Fluent Meaning
O Lord of Lakṣmī, that Lakṣmī is unsteady among others
only because she is completely captivated by Your beauty to support this, I shall now state another proof. Those devotees who are deeply absorbed in the delight of meditating upon You and in the joy of singing Your divine qualities in them she indeed resides steadily, showing special affection because of her beloved Lord.

intoxicates with joy, causes the body to thrill with goosebumps, and even drenches one with streams of cool tears born of swoons of bliss.

एवम्भूततया हि भक्त्यभिहितो योगः स योगद्वयात्
कर्मज्ञानमयाद्भृशोत्तमतरो योगीश्वरैर्गीयते ।

भक्तिर्निश्रममेव विश्वपुरुषैर्लभ्या रमावल्लभ ॥ २-७॥

तद्दूरेत्यफलं यदौपनिषदज्ञानोपलभ्यं पुनः ।
तत्त्वव्यक्ततया सुदुर्गमतरं चित्तस्य तस्माद्विभो
त्वत्प्रेमात्मकभक्तिरेव सततं स्वादीयसी श्रेयसी ॥ २-८॥
niṣkāmaṃ niyatasvadharmacaraṇaṃ yat karmayogābhidhaṃ
taddūrety aphalaṃ yad aupaniṣadjñānopalabhyaṃ punaḥ |
tattvavyaktatayā sudurgamataraṃ cittasya tasmād vibho
tvatpremātmakabhaktir eva satataṃ svādīyasī śreyasī || 2–8 ||

The path called karma-yoga the desireless performance of one’s prescribed duties remains distant and yields no immediate fruit. Again, the realization attained through Upaniṣadic knowledge is exceedingly difficult for the mind due to the subtle nature of truth. Therefore, O all-pervading Lord, devotion consisting of love for You alone is always sweeter and far superior.

बोधे भक्तिपथेऽथवाप्युचिततामायान्ति किं तावता ।
क्लिष्ट्वा तर्कपथे परं तव वपुर्ब्रह्माख्यमन्ये पुन-
श्चित्तार्द्रत्वमृते विचिन्त्य बहुभिः सिध्यन्ति जन्मान्तरैः ॥ २-९॥
atyāyāsakarāṇi karmapaṭalāny ācar ya niryannmalāḥ
bodhe bhaktipathe’thavāpy ucitatām āyānti kiṃ tāvatā |
kliṣṭvā tarkapathe paraṃ tava vapur brahmākhyam anye punaḥ
cittārdratvam ṛte vicintya bahubhiḥ sidhyanti janmāntaraiḥ || 2–9 ||

Fluent Meaning
After performing exceedingly laborious masses of actions, one may remove impurities and attain eligibility for knowledge or even for the path of devotion but what is really achieved by that alone? Others, again, struggling on the path of logic, contemplate Your supreme form known as Brahman; yet without tenderness of heart, they succeed only after many lifetimes.

सद्यः सिद्धिकरी जयत्ययि विभो सैवास्तु मे त्वत्पद-
प्रेमप्रौढिरसार्द्रता द्रुततरं वातालयाधीश्वर ॥ २-१०॥
tvadbhaktis tu kathārasāmṛtajharīnirmajjanena svayaṃ
siddhyantī vimalaprabodhapadavīm akleśatas tanvatī |
sadyaḥ siddhikarī jayaty ayi vibho saivāstu me tvatpada-
premaprauḍhir asārdratā drutatarāṃ vātālayādhīśvara || 2–10 ||
त्वत्-भक्तिः तु – but devotion to You कथा-रस-अमृत-झरी-निर्मज्जनेन – by immersion in the nectar-stream of the rasa of Your stories स्वयम् – by itself सिद्ध्यन्ती – accomplishing (its goal) विमल-प्रबोध-पदवीम् – the state of pure awakening अक्लेशतः – without hardship
